I've learned through experience that the best way to both find success as an individual contributor and also lead a team of designers is to have these three core values in focus.
- Autonomy. I try to create clear objectives and boundaries, ensuring the team understands priorities, and then empowering them to determine the 'how' in their work.
- Mastery. When people feel they’re growing and becoming experts in their craft, their confidence and contribution to the team’s success naturally increase.
- Purpose. People are most engaged when they feel their efforts align with a meaningful mission or goal. This alignment drives motivation and reinforces a sense of pride and belonging, which are key to long-term success.
